UK aid budget under threat again

Harpinder Collacott, Executive Director of Development Initiatives, responded to the rumours about cuts in the aid budget saying:

“Today's speculation that the UK's aid budget is under threat again is incredibly concerning, especially at a time when the country is leaving the EU and will need to establish itself as an important and strategic player on the global stage. Its commitment, leadership and contribution to the multilateral system have given the UK tremendous influence since the 1940s. Now is not the time to make short-term cuts to the 0.7% commitment: a global pandemic impacts all our futures and requires a global response to ensure its impacts are effectively managed.”
