Development Initiatives welcomes new board members

DI is pleased to announce that David Wu, Mary Waithiegeni Chege, Kapil Kapoor and Annie Namala have joined the organisation’s board of non-executive directors.

The new members bring considerable and diverse experience to DI’s board, which serves to provide advice, support and strategic direction to the organisation.

DI’s Chief Executive Officer, Harpinder Collacott, said: “I am delighted to welcome four new members to our board. Their diverse experiences, skills and perspectives will support DI to stretch to deliver on our mission and ambitions. They will add new skills and perspectives to an already experienced board. I am looking forward to working with them all to lead DI forward to transform, adapt and change to deliver on our ten-year strategy.”

DI’s new board members are:

• David Wu, Principal Partner at Apex Organizational Solutions, specialising in strategic business plans, corporate transformation and IT digital transformation. David previously served as Chief Information Officer at the African Development Bank, Chief Operating Officer at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and Chief of IT Operations at UNHQ.
• Mary Waithiegeni Chege, Founder and Principal at EMSI & Associates, a boutique, women-owned law firm in Nairobi, Kenya. Mary has 20 years’ experience advising on a broad range of transactions across sub-Saharan Africa and has acted for a cross-section of clients, ranging from project sponsors, public entities and corporate clients in the energy, infrastructure and real estate sectors.
• Kapil Kapoor, President & CEO of Developex, a company that provides financial and economic advisory services, including project finance, for countries in Asia and Africa. Kapil has over three decades of experience working with the World Bank and the African Development Bank
• Annie Namala, Executive Director of the Centre for Social Equity and Inclusion, a collaborative organisation that promotes equity and inclusion in development interventions with a special focus on children and youth from marginalised communities. Annie is also the National Convener of Wada Na Todo Abhiyan, a large civil society platform in India that promotes governance accountability to end poverty and social exclusion. She has over two decades of experience working in the development sector, including working for the UN in India on its Sustainable Development Framework, Human Development reports and processes relating to social inclusion.
