These are two of the conclusions of research reported by Diana Rosenberg in a recent INASP Newsletter. The research was based on data gathered by Prof. Alemma in the University of Ghana and Vitalicy Chifwepa for the University of Zambia. African Journals Online is now being hosted by INASP at www.oneworld.org/inasp/ajol/If successful, steps will be taken to extend this service. In a two-part book, Paul Starkey analyses networks Ð how they are set up, how they work (or don't work), how they are funded and meant to function. In the second part of his 100 page book, Starkey looks in particular at networking in the area of transport, specifically animal traction networks in Africa.
