Welcome to Development InitiativesWelcome to the Development Initiatives website. We hope it will provide you with an idea of who we are, what we do and how we like to work. Right now, we are working with governments, multilateral agencies, research institutes and NGOs to:
DATA Report 2009DI is proud to have contributed analysis to ONE’s DATA Report 2009 which was launched in London on the 11th May 2009. With only two years remaining, the G8 collectively have only delivered one third of the additional funding they promised to Africa by 2010. However, some countries are performing considerably better than others. DI works closely with ONE and G8 donors to analyse progress on the development commitments to Africa made at Gleneagles in 2005. More... Related links: www.one.org Are donors on track to meet their commitments to increase aid?January 2009 - Official development assistance (ODA) from DAC donors reached US$103 billion in 2007, down slightly from US$104 billion in 2006. But when net debt relief is excluded (US$19 billion in 2006, partly as a result of debt relief to Nigeria and Iraq), ODA increased by 2.5% in real terms. In a memorandum submitted to the UK's International Development Committee for the enquiry into Financing for Development, Development Initiatives calculates that global aid in 2007 was US$18.4 billion a year less than it would have been if donors had been increasing aid at a constant rate to meet their 2010 commitments.
