By road:

Wells is situated in Somerset on the southern end of the Mendip Hills. It is about 20 miles south of Bristol and 125 miles west of London by road. Major roads into/through Somerset are the M4, M5 and A303. 

By rail:

We are 12 miles (19km) from Castle Cary rail station, which has direct links to London Paddington. From there, the journey by road takes about 25 minutes.

We are only 22 miles (34km) from Bath Spa rail station (40 minutes away by road) and 20 miles (33km) from Bristol Temple Meads (about 35 minutes away by road). Both have good rail links to London, London airports and the rest of the UK.

However, we often use Gillingham rail station as it offers easy parking and is less prone to congestion than Bath or Bristol! We are 24 miles (38km) from Gillingham rail station, which has direct links to London Waterloo. The journey by road from the station takes about 50 minutes.

By air:

The Development Initiatives office in Wells is 17 miles (27km) from Bristol International airport. A pre-ordered taxi from there costs about £30 and takes about 35 minutes.

Exeter airport is about 63 miles (100km) away, which takes about 1hr and 20mins by road.

The 120 mile (201km) journey from Wells to London Heathrow takes about 2hrs and 30mins by road (along the M4). National Express operates a coach service between London Heathrow and Taunton that stops in Wells. Alternatively, you can take a rail link into central London from any of the London airports and make your onward journey to Wells from there.

By coach/bus:

National Express operates regular daily routes between the main towns in Somerset. There are also local regular bus services.
